Public Transport
Bus transport is considered one of the safest forms of public transport. However, the engine compartments of buses are the biggest challenge for bus transport.
Every year, approximately 1% of all buses on roads are exposed to fires, with approximately 70% of these fires occurring in the engine compartment. The consequences of these fires can result in damage to property, directly affect the reputation of the bus operator or manufacturer and, in the worst case, cause injury and death of passengers.
From 1 September 2021, all new buses over 22 passengers of Class I, II and III must have a fire extinguishing system installed in the engine compartment, approved according to the UNECE Regulation. No. 107.
